Vehicle :  Restored Leyland Beaver from 1948 - For Swain & Sons Haulage - Swaingroup.
 
Had a free reign on the Signwriting on this one, other than the old black and white photos that were kindly supplied by David at Swain & Sons Haulage, the design and overall layout was based on some of those photos from back in the 40's and 50's. Colours are to match the vintage shades.
All lettering and lining hand-painted on-site over a few days.

Thanks to David and the staff on-site for letting me have a corner of the workshop to work on this one.

.Back to Sunny Lutterworth in Leicestershire for another hand painted shop front and window splash for the lovely Maisie Darling Bridal Boutique!
This is the second one we have done, following on from last year's premier window display. Taking a cue from the classic film Grease, this design was hand painted onsite over a couple of days. Hand painted in external high pigment acrylics, it sure does stand out!
Cheers to Adam and Charlotte as always for the shout out and letting me 'do my brush thing'!

Last few weeks have seen some interesting projects, this one included.
I had the honour of recently being contacted by a customer who owns a very rare car, and has been in the process of restoring it over the past years. The car is a Ford Escort Mk, originally driven by the late Peter Hanson & John Hanson which won the Tourist Trophy at Silverstone in 1973. The car is near fully restored to its original state and i was asked to hand paint and signwrite the original lettering and logos, replicating the colours and designs as near as possible from old photographs. Lovely job to do and a big thankyou to the owner for the honour of letting me loose with my brushes on such an iconic vehicle! 👍🙏

Been a busy few weeks, what with Honours Board Updates and Truck Signwriting there's never a dull moment for sure!
The Honours Board updates this year have included an 'interesting' one for sure, sadly the original Signwriter passed away a while ago so I'm honoured to be following in the footsteps of another 'Brother of the Brush', so to speak. But, boy!... did this guy have some 'Interesting'  style on this job!!... took a while to get in the flow but enjoyable non the less.
Classic Truck Signage : really enjoy doing this type of job, its nice to be part of bringing back a bit of history and restoring something to its former glory. This one we only had a few black and white photos to go by so the decision was made to go with standard white lettering as that seemed to be the best bet for how the colours would have been, back in the day. Sadly no good old Keeps Enamels available any more as I'm sure they would have been the paint of choice back then, but 1 Shot is as good as any Signwriters Paints nowadays and did the job beautifully.
Another Classic  Truck on the books over the next few weeks also, so will post up some snaps when sorted!

Back to De Montfort Hall in Leicester with an addition to the large body of work i painted originally.
Great honour to be asked to do all the signwriting at the back stage area in, what must arguably be the most well known of all Venues in sunny leicester.
All these signs were painted insitu onto the painted brickwork, quite a bit of it around and about as its a bit of a maze until you get used to it!
Designwise, the majority of the text and designs for the lettering was sourced from 1900-1920's material and archives to match the era that the building was built.

Some snaps of a recently finished project.
Sadly a well known local welder, Roy Tompkins passed away quite suddenly recently and i was approached by the family to restore and repaint the original signwriting on his old van .Quite a rare thing nowadays to see a fully hand painted van and an honour to be asked to help out on this one. The design and colours were taken from some old photos and its been kept as near to the original as possible. Hopefully it will become as much of a recognised sight on the local roads as it used to be.

My sincerest condolences to the Thompkins Family and all that knew Roy.

Honoured to be asked and commissioned to restore the Gilding on the large external lamp structures that stand outside The Church of St James the Greater in the centre of Leicester.
These large lamp structures frame the entrance to the Church, and over the years have been repainted, covering the original Gold Leaf Gilding on the detailed small shields that cover near all corners and framed areas of both lamps ( 48 in total! )
All were cleaned up and re-gilded by hand with 23.5 ct Gold Leaf onsite.
Also updating the signwriting inside the Church with matching hand painted Gold-Leaf lettering adding the name of the current Vicar.

Back to the centre of good ol' leicester town for this one, up a ladder handpainting the new logo for Leicester's first 'Hot Bikram Yoga' business on a summer sunday morning.
Painted using the new vibrant colours from Sabre Paints, and all done with the trusty old brushes and mahl stick.
Inside wall logo completed also with paint, no stencil or stickers in sight :)
Opening in september 2022!

As well as traditional signwriting and hand painted signs another important part of my business is vehicle signage. Even though there are now quite a few companies offering this service, I still honesty believe that its all about experience and design at the end of the day and making the most out of what brief the client has supplied instead of rushing the job. Heres just a few photos of the recent vans completed over the past couple of weeks.
